The inside of the store, before, during, and after the minor re-model (face-lift)

At the top of the photo on your upper left, near the center, you can see a light.  That light is from a light in the hallway.  That hallway, for our purposes, is aligned North and South.  The "before" pictures here were taken after we had already done some extensive re-arranging of the furniture that currently existed in the store.  The ceiling is about 20 feet high.  That gives us some challenges, but also some real opportunities for some future improvements.  Now we're just concerned with the floor space.

So we went out and bought two 4-foot long display cases, a cash register well, and an outside corner unit to tie it all together.  But we had a problem.  The floor was already too crowded with furniture and fixtures that had been placed without a lot of thought about the "flow" of the space.  We had two old display cases in the middle of the floor that really weren't doing much to show off the merchandise.  Our local AA Intergroup office was looking for some display cases for some of their archives, so we thought "Aha!"  and on June 30, the day after these pictures were taken, with a lot of help from some friends, we took the two display cases down to the Intergroup office.  So here's what the store looked like on June 29, before we made the big change...

A view of the center of the store.  This is from the south-east corner of the store.  I don't know what the big white thing is.

This is a view from the north-west corner of the store.  I was standing on a desk top when I took this one.  The light at the right of the photo is the front door.

This is where the new furniture is going to go eventually.  Notice the shelf to the right of the small window box with the candles.  I'll refer to it in one of the "after" pictures.

From the south-west corner, standing in front of the front window looking toward the back of the store.  Here we were using gift card stands back to back as book shelves.

Looking between the two display cases, at the bottom half of the photo, you can see the old wooden "valet" that we used to  hang our t-shirts on.

The aluminum "chips" that are handed out for sober time in monthly increments are still taking up most of this grid-wall.  That's due to change in the next week or so.  You can see through the grid-wall to the back of the computer.  "Wires and cables and jack, oh my!"

Standing just inside the front door, looking to the right where the cash-wrap is going to be.

Standing just outside the front door, looking straight in at one of the large display cases.  Accessibility problems kept us from putting more stuff into it.

At the back of the store, if you turned left here, you would be in the hallway that leads out.  You're looking at what used to work as a computer desk, cash register stand, all-around "hub" of the store.

With a few exceptions, most notably some peripheral furniture arrangement, that's the store we purchased.  Then we moved out the two display cases in the middle, cleaned up a little bit, and waited for delivery of the new fixtures.  "In Limbo" pictures coming soon.  I need to do a bit of formatting so it doesn't take forever for them to load.

Now that the limbo pictures are ready, you can go to the next page to see what happened.  There aren't as many pictures on the next page, but enough  to see the change.  As of today, August 2, 2002, there are still some changes being made and planned, but the major shift has taken place.  Now it's a matter of minor adjustments and re-arranging furniture.
