Decisions

They are every remorseful and make many resolutions, but never a decision.

(ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, page xxviii)

The quote above is a doctor talking about alcoholics, but he could be talking about anyone.

There has been a time in everyone's life, if they are honest, when they have said that they would "...never do that again..."

and then have gone out and done it again without even thinking about it.

Or they have made a great resolve to do something

and never follow through.

We have high hopes.

We have great aspirations.

But there are few of us who have great follow-through.

The doctor quoted above says it's because we ("...they...") never made a decision.

And a decision requires the very next thing to be action.

Otherwise it's just a wish.

Though our decision was vital and crucial step, it could have little permanent effect unless at once followed by a strenuous effort to face, and to be rid of, the things in ourselves which had been blocking us.

(ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, page 64)

Of course I'm assuming that if it can work for the worst of the worst alcoholics, it can work for anyone.

Anyone willing to follow a decision

with ACTION.

I think that's what the real definition of decision is.

Still, a decision is relatively simple.

When you charge that decision with willingness all kinds of things can happen.  All kinds of things do happen.  All kinds of things will happen.

Decide what you want.  Make it happen.  But if you don't decide, nothing happens.  Without the decision you have no intention.  Without intention you have no direction.

But just exactly WHAT is it that you're deciding?

To align your will with God's will.

(This is so important but few really "get" it.  )

(Don't accept someone else's God as your own.  The Power that is God is revealed to different people in different ways.  There's no way that I could adequately describe "my" God to you because you would have to use my brain to understand it.  Experience God as you are able to conceive and God will be revealed more and more to you.)

Then allow God to bring things about.

All you need to decide on is to allow the Intuitive guide your actions.

But YOU have to take the actions.

See what I'm saying?

Decide to take action.

It's that simple.

Isn't it?

What actions do I need to take?
