The Unity Symbol (a reminder of the Three Legacies of Unity, Recover, and Service) has been used by people in recovery for several decades.
The foundation of Recovery (First Legacy) is partially based on the Unity (Second Legacy) a member finds within his or her own 12 Step fellowship group. The Third Legacy of recovery is found in the Service a person in recovery gives back to the fellowship. This symbol embodies the 12th Step which states that "Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carrying this message to others and to practicing these principles in all our affairs".		Sobriety was never enough for us. Abstinence by itself wasn't enough. We needed to learn a better way to live our life. As we frequently hear in meetings, "We don't think ourselves into a better way of living, we live our way into a better way of thinking."
The stained glass sample in the photo has a chain soldered onto each upper corner so it can hang in a window to catch the sunlight. . The glass-work pictured above is one of a kind. The pattern and the glass used are similar to others made by the same artist, but each one is a little bit different, and thus unique. The glass is iridized, meaning it reflects a kind of rainbow back to the viewer. We are hoping that we'll be able to offer custom orders on color schemes. This particular piece lasted in our store less than a week. The asking price was $65.00. The artist who creates these told me that if they become "too" popular, he'll be raising the prices. I'm hoping he'll come up with some other designs, too.
